Cover Up Close and Personal with Yonie

Dear Tadias,
Thank you for your coverage of Yonie, the up-and-coming music star. I was very impressed with his business acumen. His drive should serve as a lesson to older artists that music is more than a stage, drinks, drugs, and womanizing. It is a great business, and if you listen to Yonie, it is a very big business!

Grassroots: Ted Alemayhu
U.S. Doctors for Africa

By Tasnim Fidali

Dear Editor,
I very much enjoyed your article on U.S. Doctors for Africa. I appreciate Tedís effort to quell the AIDS epidemic that is ravaging our poor continent. He is doing his part to save humanity. We should all ask the question, what are we doing? Better yet, what have we done today to better humanity?

I congratulate Ted Alemayhu for his honesty and dedication in his work. Our country Ethiopia needs more people like you. I applaud you for being honest to tell your story to the whole world. We all should not forget where we came from and appreciate what we have become. Letís help each other with prayers...We do need each other.

Tadias!

Although I support what Ted Alemayhu has done to help his countrymen, I caution him when soliciting celebrities for their help. Do they really care, or do they get involved to serve their vanity? I suspect the latter is the case for most of them. Just my two cents.

Opinion: Ethiopia of Myth and Reality
By Emmanuel Mekuria

Emmanuel Mekuria seems to have read my mind. Even though I might be in the ěmajorityî that he has referred to in his article, I absolutely agree with his thoughts. In a nutshell, his point is that our country needs new blood. If our nation is ever to be redeemed from its past faults, then we have to require positive, energetic and forward looking individuals as business and civic leaders. I cannot agree more.
